Ends Jan 12, 2019
To mark its first anniversary, de Plume has commissioned New York rising star Gazoo ToTheMoon, and Los Angeles emerging artist Kieva Campbell, to create a collaborative immersive installation opening in November 2018. In the vein of Yayoi Kusama’s “With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever” at the Marciano Art Foundation, Ascendant Horizon will cover the walls, ceiling, and floor while incorporating large-scale artworks and wall sculpture to create an immersive viewing experience. The sold-out successes of “Infinity Mirrors” at The Broad, “Rain Room” at LACMA and DTLA’s “Beyond the Streets” demonstrate the tremendous appetite of the LA arts community and the public at large for large-scale installation art and street art. Gazoo is an installation artist, painter, and designer whose work has been featured nationally. He exploded onto the New York art scene in 2012 with his trademark To The Moon ^ tag since appearing on streets and gallery walls from Brooklyn to Miami to Los Angeles. In 2017, his work was commissioned by Complex Con, Facebook, and Steve Aoki. Raised on the Antillean island of Montserrat, he lives and works primarily in New York. Kieva Campbell is an abstract artist based in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured by prominent art advisors, designers, and developers, and is collected internationally. Her paintings use automatic writing and high-contrast colors and contours to reconcile the duality of mind and body. Campbell received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Pratt Institute.
