DNA Artist Talk + Closing Reception
2636 S La Cienega Los Angeles, CA 90034
Saturday, March 30 at 2:00 PM 5:00 PM
Ends Mar 30, 2019
Please join Fabrik Projects gallery for an Artist Talk featuring Stuart Kusher and Brandon Kusher, MARCH 30TH, 2-5pm. Both Father and Son artists will discuss their current exhibition 'DNA', all while answering questions from renowned art critic Peter Frank. Stuart Kusher, master sculptor, works primarily in bronze, combining classical Renaissance style with 21st century contemporary thought. Kusher considers each sculpture in the context of a greater narrative, moving beyond the simple formal aspects of the work. The paradigm of Heaven and Hell, or of virtue and evil, figures prominently, as does the wing, reminiscent of the angel to which it belongs. Hints of religiosity can be found throughout his work and references to skulls (catacombs of the mind), candles (pillars of humanity), and various symbols of mortality and immortality appear throughout as well. Brandon Kusher began his practice of photography at the early age of 15, borrowing his father’s Nikon 8008 camera during a trip to New York City. Working with black and white slide film, Brandon wandered the streets, inspired by the people and urban texture. This early inspiration continues to inform Brandon’s practice today. Brandon's work has been regularly featured in the pages of National Geographic over the past few years. The Closing Reception for DNA will be help immediately after, March 30th, 5-8pm. Stay and meet the artists for refreshments!
