Monika Sprüth and Philomene Magers are proud to present an exhibition of works by artist Thea Djordjadze entitled “If I Were An Early Person" at Sprüth Magers Los Angeles. Thea Djordjadze creates sculptures and installations concerned with the dimensions of space and time. For her multipartite sculptural ensembles where she combines objects of fragile material with stable structures, the artist uses everyday materials such as ceramics, cardboard, textiles, soap, and plaster along with found objects that refer to domestic space and the arts and crafts traditions from her native country of Georgia. These framings and arrangements – created in response to the exhibition space – testify to the artist's interest in the modernist architecture and design of the early twentieth century. Juxtaposing objects that often reveal traces and impressions of the human body with industrially made materials, she also makes reference to the sculptures of Surrealism or Minimal Art. ****** Monika Sprüth and Philomene Magers are pleased to present "What's the Point?", an exhibition of new paintings by George Condo at Sprüth Magers, Los Angeles. One of the most significant artists of the last several decades, Condo creates works that dramatically bridge an array of painterly approaches, moods, and influences from diverse fields such as art history, music, philosophy, and popular culture.
