bG Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of photographic works by Serge Hamad. The exhibition will be running February 22-March 15 2020. Opening reception: Saturday, February 22, 6-10 pm. In Serge Hamad’s “Temporal Perception” series, he turns a realistically expressive image into abstraction, shifting colors and blurring them into a junction of photography and digital rendering. His photographic diptychs consist of two prints juxtaposed, a photograph next to a formation of matching, stacked colors, distilling the accompanying photograph to its pure chromatic essence. When seen for the first time at a glimpse, the artworks seem to form a single, unbroken entity. Serge Hamad (b. 1961) is a French-Algerian artist who has lived in New York since 2001. In the 1980s, he used both video and photography as a means to cover war zones and comment on socio-political crises taking place in Iraq and the Balkans. In 2010, Serge Hamad dedicated his time mainly to fine art photography. His work has been exhibited at several galleries in the US as well as internationally and auctioned at Paddle 8, Artsy, Christie’s London, Sotheby’s, and Robert Wilson’s Water Mill Foundation. bG gallery is open from Tues. to Sat. from 11:30 AM – 6:00 PM at Bergamot Station, across from the Bergamot Cafe. http://www.santamonica.bgartdealings.com/serge-hamad-solo-exhibit/
