Historically, art has always been reused. The title Nothing New Under the Sun: A Bronx Fine Art Experience, is both an ode to the past and a nod to the future. This collection of contemporary works features two artists who embody the Bronx rich creative history. Though they look to the past for inspiration, they passionately represent the future. Nothing New Under the Sun examines the Bronx state of mind, and what connects both the past and the contemporary in modern art. This exhibition draws from pop culture and historical references. An explosion of hand crafted sculptures and textures, along with the use of oil paint, are on full display. This month-long exhibition also draws inspiration from both artists' incredible story of achieving artistic mastery and beating the odds. True roses that grew from the concrete. The handcrafted acrylic red rose is a signature in Justin Gilzene’s work. “The red flowers represent the blood of our ancestors, no matter which generation or time, we will forever blossom and outgrow anything within our soils”. The artist once again embodies working with the past and using it to create a dynamic future. Artist Zim finds inspiration from his time spent on his terrace, working on projects in solitude and observing the sounds, people and past experiences. These moments are on full display through the true mastery of oil painting.
