BOZOMAG is excited to announce Hayley Barker's "BOZO HOUSE". This exhibition opens July 31st and will be on view thru September 25th. An opening reception for the show will be held on Sunday, July 31st from 12-5PM. "Stand in the place where you live Now face north Think about direction, wonder why you haven't before Now stand in the place where you work Now face west Think about the place where you live Wonder why you haven't before..." "Stand", REM (1988) A love letter to BOZOMAG: the place, the gallery, the home, the plants, the people, the memories, the vibe, the neighborhood. If you haven’t been to BOZOMAG, you may not know that it’s an art gallery situated in the residential neighborhood of Highland Park. The space itself is a converted garage with a home next-door where Danny Bowman, the gallerist and director lives. At this gallery you can experience the California lifestyle: the inside/outside way we live. Landscape visible, when artwork is on view. A home that functions as a public space, for us to share ideas and build collective memories. Alongside "BOZO HOUSE", Hayley Barker has curated a group exhibition, "Altar", on view in the BOZOMAG office space. This show opens concurrently with Hayley Barker's solo exhibition. In "Altar", Hayley seeks to physically manifest various threads and imagery that are present within her paintings, specifically her "Altar" and "Front Yard" works. Bringing stones, goddesses, plants, biomorphic forms, tarot, artworks, flowers, dream imagery, home life & tchotchkes from out of the personal space, and into the gallery. This exhibition features: A History of Frogs, Ian Aguilar, Ray Barrett, Amy Bessone, Anna Fidler, Siobahn Furnay, Kathryn O'Halloran, Michael Lazarus, Liam Montano, Shay Myerson, Small Spells (Rachel Howe), Paige Twyman, Lily Wilkins. Open hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5PM (thru September 25th)
