The Craft in America Center is pleased to present work included in, and inspired by, the 2022 season of the Craft in America documentary series on PBS exploring America’s creative spirit through the language and traditions of the handmade. INSPIRATION reveals the magic and influence of craft. HOME visits artists and communities who impact new generations of makers through their work and environments that are filled with meaning and metaphor. The works in the exhibition impart a dedication to telling important stories as well as the pull of artistic exploration. The collection will feature rarely exhibited traditional embroidery from the Hmong diaspora that translates language into stitched symbols, as well as innovative sculptural canvas wall hangings, poetic weavings based on issues of race, plus ceramics and beadwork. Artists include renown locals Alison Saar, Maddy Leeser, Diedrick Brackens, Mary Little, plus others from across the nation, Ayumi Horie, Suzanne Thao, Mandora Young, Greg Johnson, and more.
