Central Server Works is excited to announce our eighth exhibition Marina Weiner’s “A Direct Line”. A Direct Line will be on view from February 11 – April 9, 2023, at CSW Venice, our second location in Los Angeles. The artist's opening reception will be on February 11, 2023, from 4 - 8 PM. "A Direct Line" uses the literal and symbolic connective power of lines – a line of text, a line of thought, a line on a page that becomes a word. Starting with a ceramic coil, a dimensional line of clay, Weiner builds shapes and spaces of varying tenor and intensity. Open-ended and mutable by design, each object embodies a hybrid functionality, operating at once as an artwork and as its own method of display. Function itself is a source of inspiration and humor; many works allude to tools, usefulness, and productivity while their actual use value remains ambiguous. Building up a material library of objects that range in heft, size, and density, Weiner allows the artworks to reveal themselves intuitively through relationships of color and form, sometimes taking cues from the site of installation itself. The works on view represent one relationship of call and response, a pause in a conversation.
