Cervantez: Drawing from the hemispheric context of the Americas, and broad questions of civilization and culture, this exhibition presents recent works by artists from the United States and Latin America grappling with continued questions of colonialism and postcolonialism in an effort to locate “place” in contemporary society.decolonial atlas: This comprehensive survey of Cervántez’s richly layered, politically charged and spiritually informed artistic practice spans over four decades and encompasses painting, printmaking and muralism, featuring recent works as well as revealing the artist’s historic intersections with social justice work in California, feminist and Latin American solidarity movements, the Chicano art movement, and the era of multiculturalism.
