The Nook relaunches in 2020 with a new name—SUPERCOLLIDER— a science inspired platform, presenting A Message to Space, a multimedia exhibition of outer space themed artworks. Demonstrating a diverse and inclusive history and phenomenology of aerospace studies, the exhibition includes the Space Art DNA Time Capsule, an art project for which gallery visitors can create drawings that will then be stored on synthetic DNA and flown to outer space in 2023. Artworks etched onto satellites, artworks created by astronauts, and art about space by technocurious creators, present the pursuit to understand life on earth and beyond as not so distinct from the artist’s quest to understand life’s meaning. Featured artists include Richelle Gribble, Nicole Stott (astronaut), Sheila Pinkel, Forest Stearns, Nina Waisman, Memo Akten, Rachelle Reichert, Cara Levine, Yoko Shimizu, Elena Soterakis, Isabel Beavers, Janna Avner, Christina Ondrus, Ben Vance, Robert Simmon, Charles Sommer, James P. Scott, Stan Kazanjian, Jeff Gipe, Tiare Ribeaux, Alan Chin, MoonArk (team), and Beyond Earth (team).
