DISPARATE SOURCES: Los Angeles CollageCurated by Chelsea DeanApril 28 — May 6, 2018Opening reception: Saturday, April 28, 6-10 pmKeystone Art Space is pleased to present DISPARATE SOURCES: Los Angeles Collage, an exhibition featuring the work of seventeen artists who utilize and push the boundaries of traditional collage through a variety of processes, methods, materials, and styles.Ranging from flat surfaces to three-dimensional sculptures, DISPARATE SOURCES spans from playful, comical, political, fantastical, to deeply personal in content. Works pivot between abstract and narrative approaches, acting as vehicles to address larger cultural, personal, and societal issues. What connects the artists of DISPARATE SOURCES is their affinity for the raw physicality of the art form, and a tactile process that the viewer experiences through layers of information. Photographic imagery, paint, paper, resin, found objects, and a multitude of materials are employed to communicate disparate messages. Combined, the artists reinterpret and reimagine a collective past, present, and future, resulting in dynamic new realities.DISPARATE SOURCES: Los Angeles Collage includes the work of Sacha Baumann, Rochelle Botello, Yasmine Diaz, Chelsea Dean, Lea Feinstein, Danielle Garza, Tm Gratkowski, Jennifer Gunlock, Michael Hentz, Bettina Hubby, Jay Lizo, CW Mihlberger, Cindy Rehm, Susan Sironi, Carly Steward, Toshee, and Essi
