Wilding Cran Gallery is pleased to announce Nature of Things, a collection of sculptures by Lianne Barnes on view in the back gallery. Made of bronze, resin and plaster, the sculptures, inspired by nature, symbolically manifest various aspects of womanhood. Her larger than life voluptuous heroines are sourced from mythological narratives taking on anthropomorphic organic shapes with handcrafted surfaces and meticulous patinas. Some represent the grace and strength of those who have weathered life’s storms, the emotional loving attachment of a mother and child or the abstract sensuality of lovers locked in a dance and embrace. These tactile objects become the embodiments of femininity, strength, beauty and pride. About Lianne Barnes: Barnes studied at the University of California, San Diego and Otis College of Art and Design. She holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Barnes currently has sculptures featured in the garden at The Underground Museum in Los Angeles and exhibited several works at Chrome Hearts in the Miami Design District. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Barnes currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
