Maryam Jafri: I Drank the Kool-Aid But I Didn’t Inhale || Lucas Blalock: An Enormous Oar 👀

Feb 10, 11 AM - 6 PM — ends Jun 23, 2019
Maryam Jafri (b. 1972)‘s work is informed by a research-based, interdisciplinary process, often marked by a series of experiments at the crossroads of cultural anthropology and conceptual art. This exhibition presents Jafri’s Product Recall: An Index of Innovation (2014–15) which combines framed texts, “still life” product photography, and samples of unsuccessful food products from the late 1960’s to the recent past. This exhibition marks Jafri’s first solo institutional presentation in the United States.

Brooklyn-based photographer Lucas Blalock (b. 1978) uses both traditional and digital techniques to create uncanny and surreal images of ordinary things. An Enormous Oar, the artist’s first solo museum exhibition, presents over twenty works produced in the last five years focused on still-lifes, domestic scenes, and portraits.
