Jan 09, 6 PM - 9 PM — ends Feb 06, 2020
Mommy, Dearest was birthed from photographer Brooke Ashley Barone’s experience of contemporary dating over the past several years.

The artist’s debut solo exhibition will consist of ten large-scale photographic prints.

Presented by werkartz, the exhibition will take place at their Olympic DTLA location in Los Angeles, CA, and run from January 9, 2020 through February 6, 2020.

"I feel as though I’ve been babying men throughout my entire relationship history and sought to depict this dynamic, photographing myself with men who appear to be feeding from my breast.

In these images, I want to convey a sense of power by reversing the role in popular imagery of the female form photographed in the nude, and instead make the masculine body vulnerable in its nudity. This series was captured in various public settings, where people can either be seen breastfeeding in public, or going on a date.

This is not to say that I believe all men care to be babied; I’ve only illustrated what feels true to my personal experience."
