Alon Keden’s new exhibition presents paintings and works on paper from 2013-2021, exploring the ways in which technology has affected human relations and personal communication. Much prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and the emergence of Zoom into our lives, Kedem had been fascinated by the duality of being emotionally close with someone else via screens of cell phones, computers and other media, while being physically distant. Grouping works from different series that share common themes and interests, “Screen Time” offers to Los Angeles audiences a first encounter with Kedem’s sophisticated and humorous approach toward abstraction vs. figuration, intimacy vs. detachment, and locality vs. globalism. Alon Kedem (Born 1982, Israel) lives and works in Jerusalem. In 2014, Kedem was featured in the book “100 Painters of the Future”, published by Thames and Hudson, London (Editor: Kurt Beers). His work is in the collections of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; The Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa; The Katzen Center, Washington, DC ; CIPA Gallery Collection, Beijing, China; Chongqing Art Museum, Chongqing, China, and many private collections worldwide.
