Peripheral Space is pleased to present Stargazers, a group exhibition curated by Katie Hector and Adam Sabolick which features the work of Liv Aanrud, Chris Chandler, Alyss Estay, Rema Ghuloum, Amy Mackay, Katie Marshall, Jean Isamu Nagai, Andrew Orloski, and Anna Pietrzak. Every evening, like clockwork, a flickering array of Red Giants, White Dwarfs, Hot Blues, and Super Novas, reappears within the night sky. Stars at various stages of life and death grant a glimpse into the past, present, and future of the universe. Interpreting the nature of celestial bodies and creating mythologies around abstract pinpoints of light has proven to be essential throughout human history. The collection of paintings, weavings, and sculptures in this exhibition tap into the same intrinsic desire to look out, embrace ambition, and find meaning. Utilizing a range of materials: bronze, pumice, concrete, paint, burlap, and so on the artists included in Stargazers render patterns, symbols, and signs which demonstrate the timeless quest for connection.
