Gabriel Madan: Dogs Who Are Poets and Movie Stars 👀

2626 N Figueroa St, Unit C, Los Angeles, CA 90065
Oct 16, 6 PM - 9 PM — ends Dec 03, 2021
Gattopardo is pleased to announce the opening of Gabriel Madan’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition ‘Dogs Who Are Poets and Movie Stars’ this Saturday, October 16th from 6-9 pm. Miami born Madan’s recent paintings explore the circuitous likeness between animal and human experiences. Always colorful and often cartoonish, friendly beasts pantomime the bruise of being. Madan’s pictures imagine a volatile innocence where anxious parrots pluck their feathers and rats gnash their tiny razor-like teeth. Like history paintings of fabulist nightmares, Madan’s work presents an uneasy pathos and familiar allure.

Gabriel Madan (Miami, FL) lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He received his BFA in Printmaking from the University of Miami (2015) and his MFA from ArtCenter College of Art and Design (2020). Madan’s work has recently been exhibited via LAND Frame Rate, The Renaissance Society, and at Kristina Kite Gallery.
