Ends Dec 10, 2021
Join curator Frida Cano for an in-person tour of the exhibition Weaving Unity at 18th Street Arts Center's Slipstream Galleries, Airport Campus (3026 Airport Ave, Santa Monica, CA) on December 10 at noon PST. The exhibition features projects by Panamanian-Dutch artist Antonio José Guzmán along with Serbian artist and designer Iva Jankovic, Amazonia-based artist and researcher Bárbara Santos, Colombian-born Los Angeles-based artist Claudia Concha, Californian artist and filmmaker Enid Baxter Ryce, and California/New York-based performance artist Ni'Ja Whitson. Weaving Unity highlights the knowledge of our human and non-human ancestors in contemporary visual artworks, tracing the invisible connections between the past and the present, and envisioning an interconnected future. The selected projects in this exhibition seek to draw connections between Indigenous knowledge and contemporary Western cultures to address the urgent crises of our time. Masks will be required at all times inside the gallery. For more information and to RSVP visit our website: https://18thstreet.org/event/curator-walkthrough-weaving-unity/
