In Conversation: Mary Margarett Pettway with Diedrick Bracken
901 East 3rd St. Los Angeles, CA 90013
Saturday, December 10 at 3:00 PM 4:30 PM
Ends Dec 2, 2022
On the occasion of Hauser & Wirth’s second iteration of the traveling exhibition ‘The New Bend’ curated by Executive Director & Chief Curator of The Kitchen, Legacy Russell, please join us Saturday 10 December for a special conversation between LA-based textile artist Diedrick Brackens and fourth generation Gee’s Bend quilter Mary Margaret Pettway. The New Bend showcases 13 contemporary artists whose unique visual vernaculars exist in tender dialogue with, and in homage to the contributions of the Gee’s Bend Alabama quilters – Black American women in collective cooperation and creative economic production – and their enduring legacy as a radical meeting place, a prompt, and as intergenerational inspiration. This event is free, however, reservations are recommended.
