A duo of sculptural series and installations cohesively entitled Last Ticket for the Beauty Train, the exhibition will consist of two parts in separate locations with a fully-immersive, walkthrough installation at the gallery’s Chinatown pop up space, and a multi-media art showcase at the permanent gallery location on La Brea in Los Angeles.This new series of sculptures and installations examines what Hove terms “the failures of the Illuminati,” the institutions that have both controlled us but also defined our way of life and their inevitable collapse of control. As an attempt to reconcile the forces of light and dark, which are in increasingly perilous opposition, Last Ticket for the Beauty Train addresses deeply political and socially conscious messages under the guise of sugar-coated acrylic ‘frosting’ and decorative piping.
