LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan speaks with actor, director, writer, comedian, author, musician, and collector Cheech Marin. The conversation will focus on Marin’s passion for collecting and supporting Chicano art. Marin has amassed the largest private collection of Chicano art, including more than 20 works by Carlos Almaraz with some currently on view in Playing with Fire: Paintings by Carlos Almaraz. Marin has also been instrumental in organizing exhibitions of Chicano art including Los Angelenos/Chicano Painters of L.A.: Selections from the Cheech Marin Collection at LACMA in 2008, and he is currently collaborating with the Riverside Art Museum to create the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture and Industry (also known as The Cheech).
