Distinguished Chicano artist, Roberto Gutierrez has spent most of his adult life painting biographical collections of his beloved East Los Angeles, his birth place. A U.S. Marines veteran and survivor of the Vietnam War, Gutierrez used his G.I. Bill to attend East Los Angeles Community College, where he excelled in art classes. Today, Gutierrez has expanded his East Los Angeles suites to include a Paris, France suite along with other contemporary and abstract collections. Currently, he is working on a second Paris suite, along with a New York/Central Park suite, and another East L.A. suite. Gutierrez has been a long time teaching artist at Plaza de la Raza, and will return to Plaza to teach an adult visual art class in early 2018.
