600 State Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90037
Saturday, March 24 at 7:00 PM 9:00 PM
Ends Mar 24, 2018
In collaboration with CAAM and USC Roski, MA candidate Kat Sayarath presents a reading and release party of the online art journal RACE/d: A Journal for You. Conceived in response to Dictée, an interdisciplinary novel by the late artist-poet Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, RACE/d showcases works by artists and writers whose narratives are self-reflective of the cultural and psychological repercussions of displacement. Inspired by Cha’s innovative use of language, text, and image referencing cross-cultural sources spanning multiple genres, RACE/d moves away from the traditional exhibition and explores the landscape of the page, seeking to provide an ever-evolving space for the immigrant narrative.Edited by Kat Sayarath RACE/d: A Journal for You features works by James Cha, Angel Dominguez, Phung Huynh, Douglas Kearney, Ari Laurel, Tiffany Lin, Paul Pescador, Claudia Rankine, Marton Robinson, and Karen Tei Yamashita. The program on March 24th will include screenings of Theresa Cha’s film, readings, performances, and talks by journal contributors, followed by a reception.Open and free to the publicPlease RSVP at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/raced-a-journal-for-you-tickets-40803983814Instagram: @racedajournalEmail: racedajournal@gmail.com
