New Image Art Gallery presents two exhibitions featuring NYC-based artist, Naudline Pierre and LA-based artist, Stephanie Guerrero.Naudline Pierre’s solo exhibition, Touch Not My Beloved exists as a portal into a mysterious world where she arranges her experiences, anxieties, and desires into a personal mythology of otherworldly characters and settings. Pierre creates intimate scenes of protection and affection from a parallel reality, only accessible, the artist believes, through the act of painting. Pierre uses the rich legacy of oil painting combined with a highly chromatic palette, to immerse herself, her history, and her complexities into this long-standing visual language. In exploring her existence and creating these painting-portals into another dimension, she is acknowledging all of the history contained within her body. Using her unique lens she paints not only for herself, but also for those she descended from.Stephanie Guerrero’s exhibition, From Inside; The Out, challenges humanity's desire for connectivity to the natural world while living in a society that cultivates disconnection and alienation. This exhibition pairs together images of the body and landscapes. Her work and process proposes the possibility of how language could look through the act of mark making.
