California Institute of the Arts 2018 MFA Graduates in the programs of Art, Art & Tech, and Photo & Media are pleased to announce their post-graduate exhibition Rattlesnake Bells In The Desert, curated by Daniela Lieja Quintanar of Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Rattlesnake Bells In The Desert will be held at The Box in Downtown Los Angeles and runs from June 1st through June 13th with the opening reception taking place on June 1st from 6-9 PM. Rattlesnake Bells In The Desert is an exhibition that features work by 32 artists, all recent graduates of CalArts, whose practices use an extensive range of media and explore a vast variety of topics. CalArts’ unbound curriculum, which is built individually by the artist, leads to a wide range of content that is fortified by the Institute’s six schools (Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Film & Video, Music, and Theater). Since 1970, California Institute of the Arts has set the pace for educating artists, offering a rigorous graduate degree in the programs of Art, Art & Technology, and Photography & Media. The art school has a foundation embedded with feminist discourse, practices dependent on the artist’s actions and voice, and a sense of community. As successive generations of faculty and alumni have helped challenge the idea of an artist as well as shape the landscape of contemporary arts, the Institute encompasses a vibrant, eclectic community with global reach, inviting experimentation, independent inquiry, and active collaboration and exchange among artists, artistic disciplines, and cultural traditions.Rattlesnake Bells In The Desert features work by Alan S. Tofighi, Alexandre Saden, Alexandra de Leon, Annie Render, Aydinaneth Ortiz, Babsi Loisch, Beth Fiedorek, brd, Carolina Fandino, Carolina Hicks, Coffee Kang, Denae Howard, Don Tinling, Ekta Aggarwal, Elizabeth Preger, Elizabeth Smith, Gabby Rosenberg, Gwenmarie White, Hande Sever, Hannah Varamini, Jessie Wright, Jinal Sangoi, Jinseok Choi, Luka Fisher, Luna Galassini, Max Syron, Roy Martinez, Sarah Naim, Shelby Poor, Sydney Mills, Vickie Aravindhan and Wesley Hicks.Rattlesnake Bells In The Desert was made possible with generous support from The Box, California Institute of the Arts’ School of Art, California Institute of the Arts’ Office of Advancement, Rosette Delug and Walter E.
