The MexiCali Biennial is proud to announce its inaugural event to kick off its upcoming round of programming. This initial event will be a two-day performance-centered series hosted by LACE Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions in Hollywood on June 8 and 9, 2018 and will be followed by exhibitions taking place at multiple venues across California and Mexico throughout 2018 and 2019. Join the MexiCali Biennial in celebrating the mythical origin story of California and its Black Amazon ruler, Queen Calafia. Serving under the concept of Calafia: Manifesting the Terrestrial Paradise, the weekend will consist of 9 new commissioned art and sound performances, DJ sets and a workshop. Artists include Edna Avalos, Artemisa Clark with Rebeca Hernandez, Cali (Claudia Algara), Dani Dodge, Dino Dinco, Carmina Escobar, Melanie Griffin, Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle, Haydeé Jimenez, Jason Magabo Perez, Slanguage Studios and #Snatch Power.
