Kaleidoscope, Los Angeles’s conductorless orchestra, explores questions of humanity and race through a program of chamber music by acclaimed L.A.-based composers. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) will launch Compose LA 2019 as its inaugural platform to showcase LA's leading contemporary composers, innovative music artists, dynamic thought-leaders, and engaging music spaces. Compose LA 2019 is a collaboration between DCA's Performing Arts Division and the following partners: American Composers Forum of Los Angeles, the University of California Humanities Research Institute at UC Irvine, and the Center for Music Innovation at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. The Hammer Museum concert was organized by Claudia Bestor and Benjamin Mitchell. Ticketing: Free tickets are required and available at the Box Office one hour before the program. One ticket per person; first come, first served. Member Benefit: Members receive priority ticketing until 15 minutes before the program. Learn more about membership. Parking: Parking is available under the museum. Rates are $6 for the first three hours with museum validation, and $3 for each additional 20 minutes, with a $20 daily maximum. There is a $6 flat rate after 6 p.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends. Cash only. (The $6 rate will go up to $7 beginning February 1, 2019.)
