Please join us for an evening of screenings and conversation with the Karrabing Film Collective. Karrabing Film Collective is a grassroots indigenous media group from the Northern Territory of Australia that is revolutionizing the making of moving pictures at the intersection of art and activism. They have their own production process, work through innovative collaborations, and make films that question how we represent indigenous people and colonial histories in Australia and more broadly, the world.. Members of the Karrabing Film Collective that will be present include Gavin Bianamu, Rex Edmunds, Natasha Bigfoot Lewis, Cecilia Lewis, Angelina Lewis, Elizabeth A. Povinelli, Aiden Sing, Kieran Sing, and Shannon Sing. The youngest member of the collective is 12 and the oldest is 70 Karrabing is having their first major museum show at MoMA opening next month, but 9 members of the collective are here in Los Angeles now, and we will be hosting a special screening and conversation with them on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 7pm. We will screen a selection of films and then the members will be in a conversation moderated by Kris Kuramitsu, TMR Deputy Director and Head of Program.
