Coming back from a trip visiting Australia and Tasmania’s seed banks and deextinction laboratories, artist Molly Jo Shea has created a body of work exploring living and dead archives. Using clay, planted objects, performance and documentary; Shea’s work addresses the malleability of archive in a post-CRISPR world. Places visited in documentary include the Seed Bank of Sydney, the Museum of Human Disease, the Tasmanian Botanical Garden's Seedbank, the Melbourne Seedbank, Melbourne University's DeExtinction Lab, MONA in Australia, Microcosm in Australia and even interviews with Tasmanian Tiger hunter and eco-conservation artist, Bill Flowers. Audio collaborations with mother, Tracy Shea and Evan Wendell. Presented through grant support from The Felix Gonzalez-Torres Travel Grant.
