Saturday, April 27 at 6:00 PM 10:00 PM
Ends May 12, 2019
'ODD MAN OUT’ is Tommii Lim's homecoming LA exhibition and return to the gallery world. The show depicts his take on identity in today’s "fifteen seconds of fame" generation. The show encompasses his faults, strengths and the questions he asks himself daily. “This show is a journal to myself asking, ‘Which me am I today?’" His showpiece is a 10 foot depiction of Bruce Lee titled ‘Chino’. “Growing up as an asian in LA, I hated Bruce Lee, he was a derogatory racial slur. As I got older, I realized how disruptive and extraordinary he was. ‘Chino’ is a reflection of the baggage I shunned as a youth transformed into the foundation of my existence today.” Works include large format paintings, prints, sculptures, mirrors, and a giant balloon installation. 'FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES' is Bloody Gums' black and white exhibition which mirrors Lim's ‘ODD MAN OUT’ in the basement exhibition showcasing new paintings, illustrations, sculptures, film photography & video installations Opening reception is free.
