Art Babes Story Hour with Michelle Tea Wednesday, June 19th 11:00am — 12:00pm Join us for story time at ICA LA with artists who will read from books they have written and share a selection of favorite stories by other authors. Snacks and beverages will be served. ASTRO BABY is for newborns who like to gaze at bright colors, toddlers who are fascinated by images of babies and animals, older children able to comprehend the concepts put forth by astrology, and grown-ups who are obsessed with their star signs. Michelle Tea is the author of numerous books for grown-ups, including Modern Tarot, Valencia, Black Wave, and the young adult fantasy trilogy Mermaid in Chelsea Creek, Girl at the Bottom of the Sea, and Castle on the River Vistula. Her books have been published in Italian, German, Slovenian, and Japanese. She has written for Harper’s, The Believer, Artforum, n+1, Cosmopolitan, Lenny Letter, Buzzfeed, and other print and web venues. She is the creator of the international phenomenon Drag Queen Story Hour, and founding Editor-at-Large of the online parenting journal Mutha Magazine. Her debut picture book, Astro Baby, is forthcoming from Dottir Press in April 2019. Michelle lives in Los Angeles with her wife and son.
