SOMOS SUR is a playful and serious exhibition inspired by La Escuela de Sur ( The school of The South ) were by means of rescued object a language of self determination arises in the process of giving shape to sculptures, assemblages and mixed media art pieces. This exhibit is one step back and away from an egocentric approach to what feels best and what makes one feel good in the art making process. It addresses questions and concern from a Global South perspective. SOMO SUR includes hints and influences from de-colonial writings, literature, art, poetry, mythology and oral traditions from Latin America and Africa. In this exhibition all the its and bits of artwork join as a personal statement that embodies many voices. It is a political, anthropological and globalectic search that seeks to reveal the dismembering practices against the memory of liberation. The use of rust in the sculptures is a reference to time as a long conversation. His sculptures come to be objects that carry the feel of a worker.
