Hamza Walker is the Director of LAXART, a nonprofit visual art space that promotes developments in contemporary culture through exhibitions, publications, and public programs. From 1994—2016, he was the Director of Education and Associate Curator at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, a non-collecting museum devoted to contemporary art. He co-curated (with Aram Moshayedi) “Made in L.A.” at the Hammer Museum in 2016. Walker served as one of the five members of the international jury for awards and recognition during the 2019 Venice Biennale, and he curated the talks and programs at the first edition of Frieze Los Angeles. Among his recent shows at LAXART are “Sperm Cult” and “Sol LeWitt, Page Works 1967 - 2007,” an exhibition of works of art made for reproduction and distribution in books and magazines.
