Thursday, April 30 at 5:00 PM 11:00 PM
Ends Apr 30, 2020
Discover the life and work of video art pioneers Steina and Woody Vasulka. After meeting in Prague in the early 1960s, they relocated from Czechoslovakia to New York, where they founded The Kitchen, a legendary art space. Now retired, living in Santa Fe and in debt, the Vasulkas are busy with their legacy: conserving and archiving their videos in their usual DIY spirit. This documentary reveals the impact of their work on the decentralization of media, the revolution against censorship, and the “YouTube Generation.” This film will be available to watch on Thursday, April 30 anytime between 5-11pm PDT. RSVP to receive access. Run time: 85 minutes. RSVP: https://www.ocmaexpand.org/events/cinema-orange-the-vasulka-effect/form
