For the multimedia installation Manifestos (2008), the artist Charles Gaines translated the language of four political manifestos into musical scores accompanied by video. In conjunction with the 2011 Hammer exhibition All of this and nothing, composer-arranger Sean Griffin conducted a six-piece ensemble for the first live performance of Gaines’s work, which is part of the Hammer Contemporary Collection. For the first time, the Hammer presents an online screening of the original performance documentation. The presentation will be followed by a live conversation between Gaines and the Hammer’s Aram Moshayedi, Robert Soros Curator.
