March 19 marks the seventh year of the war in Yemen, a date commemorated this year with a special screening of short films by seven Yemeni filmmakers. This screening begins on Friday, March 19, at 4:30 pm PDT with the premiere of the films Conflict Is More Profitable Than Peace and مهجر // Mahjar by the Yemeni artist and filmmaker Alia Ali. Ali, currently featured in the Benton Museum of Art’s Project Series, will then discuss her work—and discourses of Yemeni futurism—with Dave Serio, the film curator at the Arab American National Museum.
