"Eye Candy" opening with painter Pat Gainor Painter Pat Gainor’s solo exhibition “Eye Candy” comprises a new series of abstract paintings - some embellished with gold leaf - that she created almost entirely during the Covid era. Despite the tenor of the times, this body of work is lively, ebullient, joyful, and brimming with energy, movement, and light. Her spirited art works infuse welcome notes of happiness into the environment. She says, “Inspired by Frank Gehry’s process of studying his crumpled papers, I slashed holes in the plastic coverings of my canvases, letting those raw edges define the perimeters of the shape where I sprayed layers of paint. The unique shape, color and resultant patterns in each painting are there for the viewer to enjoy and devour one-by-one as, if it were a box of sampler chocolates.”
