Curated by Steve Galindo WALLSPACE 7701 Santa Monica Blvd. LA CA 90046 March 31st 7-10 PM through April 15th 2022 ( 12-5PM Daily ) WALLSPACE is proud to present a Transgender Arts Initiative with The City of West Hollywood’s Grant Awardee curator Steve Galindo / THESTYLEGUYDE in collaboration with FLUX Benefiting The Unique Women’s Coalition at The Connie Norman Transgender Center. " As We Are, Pillars of Society" Art Exhibit brings together Community Artists & Allies to artistically depict trans visibility through creative direction, photography, mixed media and fashion. In an effort of inclusion, visibility and equity by bringing together the 8 pillars to help integrate, elevate and fuse through visual education within this exhibit. Inspired and benefitting The Unique Women's Coalition, black trans equality and visibility within all of society's pivotal roles, the UWC ‘s services aim at producing and ushering experiences otherwise not available to the black trans community. Through producing events geared towards empowerment, integration and social experiences ,The UWC and this group of allies seek to reach unity and a better understanding of the role trans community members play in the whole of society through the lens of our trade. “As We Are Pillars of Society ” opens Friday March 31st 2022 at Wallspace with an evening reception from 7-10 pm. The installation will be open from 12PM - 5PM through April 15th. Wallspace is a dynamic art gallery now based in West Hollywood, California exhibiting LA based abstract, contemporary, & street artists. Owner Valda Lake shares, “ We are very excited about finding new visions and contributing to the launch of careers whilst also representing more established artists. We regularly presents programming centered around women creators, gay, queer , BIPOC and emerging talent within art shows, art fairs and public art projects”. WALLSPACE roster is comprised of 50% women artists and 50% gay, queer artists.” Most notably, WALLSPACE Public Art works includes installations for The City of West Hollywood on Route 66 with neon artworks by artist Scott Froschauer. Hosted in Los Angeles UAL British Graduate Exhibitions for the University of the Arts London including Chelsea College of Arts, Central St Martins and Camberwell ranked 2nd in world for Art and Design Institutes. Curator Steve Galindo at THESTYLEGUYDE is an emerging, multi-media Los Angeles-based artist and curator. Galindo has a background in art and fashion, and is a recent graduate of the West Hollywood Artist Bootcamp 2021 cohort. He has spent the last five years in mixed media art and fine art photography learning from prominent artists, curators , community organizers and gallerists formulating an artistic philosophy steeped in a desire to express unifying truths about the human experience. THESTYLEGUYDE Gallery stands to “Unite Communities through the Language of Art Photography, Mixed Media Manipulation, Painting and Sculpture in hopes of driving conversation of change for marginal communities including but not limited to BIPOC and LGBTQAI in Los Angeles. “My goal in my work is to build out a paradoxical conversation of the intersections in our community.” This exhibition is supported in part by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood.
