Just as the labor of sex workers and striptease dancers, often denigrated, stigmatized and cast in to the shadows of social life, involves the transformation of raw physical labor into an imaginative manifestation of sexual desire, so to the physical labor of an artist finds a form and praxis embodied in a creative process that gains its meaning, whether consciously or not, by the making of an artwork. Thirty six artists have been invited to offer not only their material support for the struggles of organized labor against the exploitation of entrenched capital, but also offer visions of worlds of desire, learning and solidarity shaped by creative labor.
