The Pit is pleased to announce "Liquid Night," a solo exhibition with LA-based artist Chase Biado at The Pit LA! Biado's first solo exhibition with the gallery, the show will include new oil paintings. The exhibition is on display from April 22 - May 27, 2023. Please join us for an opening reception on Saturday, April 22 from 5 - 7 pm. Chase Biado’s works depict an imagined world, a mixture of fantasy and daily life, painted in a highly saturated palette. The various fantasy beings that populate Biado’s paintings wander dreamlike spaces, on a realigned axis of beauty and ugliness, where goblins and rat people replace the human figure and have full interior lives. Moments of existential resonance are painted with vibratory lines and rhythmic mark making, rendering the picture plane a psychological space. Please visit us at 918 Ruberta Ave, Glendale, CA 91201. The gallery is open from Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm. _____ The Pit is pleased to present a group exhibition "Hot Spring" featuring artists Brian Rochefort, Ryan Schneider, and Allison Schulnik at The Pit LA! The exhibition consists of new ceramic pieces by Rochefort, new sculptures by Schneider, alongside new paintings by Schulnik. The exhibition will be on display from April 22 - May 27, 2023. Join us for an opening reception at the gallery on Saturday April 22, from 5 - 7pm. For “Hot Spring” at the Pit LA, Brian Rochefort, Ryan Schneider, and Allison Schulnik engage nature in their work in a similar way, each bending to the requirements and limitations of their chosen medium, like building around a natural form. Each artist’s practice centers around the natural environment, whether with material, subject matter or setting. Working across wood, paint and ceramic, these three Southern California-based artists demonstrate this connection in their embrace of naturally seductive texture, drawing on both the beauty and precarity of the West Coast environment. Please visit us at 918 Ruberta Ave, Glendale, CA 91201. The gallery is open from Tuesday-Saturday 11am - 5pm.
