Carlye Packer is pleased to announce You, Me, and the Electric Sheep Make Three an exhibition of new works by Los Angeles-based artists Frances Stark, Samala Meza and Kevin Bouton-Scott. The exhibition opens Saturday, June 17th and will be on view through July 8th. Frances, Samala and Kevin spend a lot of time together. Some of the things they often find themselves talking about include: being desperate, being in-love, being rejected, the potential of a new school that is anti-institutional (in the true sense of the word) and pro-love, a lot about God, the absence of God, and Larry Johnson. They also talk a lot about Sci-fi, the Iraq war, the wars in general, how they are wet wired to technology, and all their troubles; trouble in general, but also shoes and foam rollers for the back and how "back rollers changed our lives," and other home-heeling techniques, various studio practices, pain (emotional and physical), Cricut™️ machines, conceptual painting etc. etc. Frances’ influence on Samala and Kevin (vice versa as well) can be seen as a sort of anti-institutional education. There is an inter-generational connection taking place between the three of them, ideas being shared and discussed, in person or via text (they sure do love to text). Image: Samala Meza. Untitled (Wall Doll 5), 2023. Oil on canvas. 66 x 48 inches (169 x 122 cm).
