"Absence of Self(ie)" are paintings from found and composited selfies that shift the focus from the figure (both the subject of and reason for the photo) to the background. Instead of a nude we get a glimpse into the mundane realities of peoples lives, interiors not normally meant for public viewing. The dirty laundry, make up, random everyday objects piled haphazardly without the consideration that they will be presented to the public, showing our humanity as much as the image of the figure does.
