Friday, January 19 at 8:00 PM 9:00 PM
Ends Jan 19, 2024
Coaxial Arts Foundation is thrilled to announce LA-based multimedia artist Josh Cloud as our January 2024 Artist in Residence. During “Circling Back” Josh will create a short film (to be screened at a future date) as well as curate a public screening collaboratively with Kate Renshaw Lewis, titled “Unpublished” on January 19. Unpublished (Screening) Friday, Jan. 19 Doors - 7:00PM Screening - 8:00PM to 9:00PM A chance for the artist to reinvest in time-based media. Circling Back will primarily be used as a means to produce a short film/animation on super 8mm and camcorder, finding ways to activate and breathe life into sculpture and drawing. The film will be improvisational, coming to life in the moment of creation. There will be loud jazz playing, and good vibes. Circling Back will conclude with a screening on January 19th, titled "Unpublished" - a clip show of over 20 experimental animators and filmmakers unfinished projects, test shots, and weird side projects, curated by Josh Cloud and Kate Renshaw Lewis. Unpublished is an experimental smorgasbord of works in progress, whether that be a forgotten/unfinished film, a glamorous pipeline test, a material experiment that deserves some goddamn recognition, or that weird project that someone don't know where to put because it doesn’t match their usual style. Get us a peep behind the curtain, a look into the madness, and see something previously unseen with an intimate room full of people at Coaxial. The screening will be accompanied by a live score. Friday, January 19. Doors at 7pm Screening starts at 8pm *Mask wearing is highly recommended indoors. N/95, KN/95 & Surgical masks are suggested and provided.
