Shockboxx Gallery presents the solo show of LA-based artist Daniel Thorr Hustwit - Diarealism and Peptobismolism.
Diarealism, An Unbearable Art Movement, is part of a farcical notion of the artist starting his own art movement and then ending it with another even more farcical one, Peptobismolism, The Obliteration of An Art Movement, where the artist has manufactured a faux group of artists making, hopefully, real art.
When there is nothing culturally available to eat, culture eats itself. Diarealism explores the death spiral of contemporary art as it competes to entertain a public that is not entertained by art (other than its auction price) when our reality begins to consume our humanity.
Daniel Thorr Hustwit was born in 1966. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA in 1989 and his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine School of Law in 1992. He is a multi-award-winning painter whose art has been shown in galleries nationwide. He is a recipient of the First Fletcher H. Dyer Award for social and political commentary in art. He lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and dog.
Nestled within the Cypress Arts District of Hermosa Beach, California, ShockBoxx Gallery is a captivating hub that beckons art lovers, collectors, and enthusiasts to revel in its dynamic and innovative creative space.
