Jac Forbes Contemporary is proud to present 'Ark of the Covenant', a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Yohannes Yamassee. The show will be displayed at the Malibu location with an opening on January 20. Titled Ark of the Covenant, Yohannes Yamassee's newest solo exhibition examines the meaning of biblical and spiritual history found throughout ancient hieroglyphics, sand scripts and nature in east Afrikan culture. The body of work uses modern and prehistoric materials that place the viewer in past golden treasures - ultimately to educate the viewer of historical events and scriptures throughout time. The artist's exploration through his paternal 'root' leads us on a journey to 'the horn'. The found riches invites us to explore the meaning of biblical and spiritual history found throughout ancient Ethiopian culture.
