LAST Projects is thrilled to present Tara Zorthian's first solo show If These Walls Could Talk, featuring new paintings, sculpture, installation, stop motion animation, and performance.
Tara Zorthian is a multimedia artist from Los Angeles, whose work exists in the confluence of realms. Tara’s works in painting, sculpture, film, music, and puppetry interrogate concepts of embodiment, sorrow, earthly, and celestial mysteries through deep storytelling. Tara’s practice is deeply informed by her experiences with alternative living, including growing up in an off-grid earth ship community in New Mexico, and years living on her family’s arts and land project, The Zorthian Ranch, in Altadena, CA. “If These Walls Could Talk” reflects on these experiences, exploring what it means to live outside of conventionality. Her work is rooted in the traditions of folk art from across the world, drawing inspiration from her time spent traveling through Central America and Europe. Her work was recently featured at Eastern projects, and Huerto Roma Verde, CDMX, where she was an Artist in Residence.
