Next Door: Environmental Injustice in Our Neighborhoods
252 South Los Angeles Street Los Angeles, CA 90012
Thursday, June 6 at 6:00 PM 8:00 PM
Ends Jun 29, 2024
Next Door is not just an exhibition; it's a powerful collaboration between Los Angeles-area high school students and professional visual storytellers. This project was brought to life through a partnership between AfroLA, a nonprofit news outlet dedicated to covering L.A. from the perspective of the Black community, and Black Women Photographers. Together, they have curated an immersive art experience that delves deep into the intersection of environmental and racial justice. Through striking visual narratives, it explores how environmental factors disproportionately impact historically-marginalized communities, particularly those of color. Next Door challenges viewers to confront the systemic inequalities that contribute to environmental degradation and its unequal effects on different socio-economic groups. We believe that the insights and perspectives presented in this exhibition align closely with your values and interests and audience. By covering Next Door, you will not only highlight the creative endeavors of talented young artists and professionals but also help raise awareness about social and environmental justice issues that demand our attention. The opening reception event is free to attend, but RSVP is required. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. (
