The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in partnership with LAUNCH LA, proudly presents an open call juried group exhibition, “Divergent Synthesis,” which will open with a reception at the Korean Cultural Center Art Gallery (located at 5505 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Jurors Virginia Moon and Peter Frank reviewed over 1,338 images from over 300 artists in a blind jurying process. Their careful selection resulted in 40 art pieces created by 34 artists that authentically and compellingly echo contemporary life while interconnected. As a scientific term, “Divergent Synthesis” refers to a complex molecular process of combining different elements to create new compounds; KCCLA & LAUNCH LA are approaching it from a conceptual perspective--reflective of contemporary art and influenced by our culture. "Divergent Synthesis" brings together artists from around Southern California whose works combine experiences, backgrounds, influences, media, materials and/or methods in order to create a new work of art. These artists and their works reflect our times and provide an authentic lens to view, interpret, and document contemporary culture. The exhibition is open to the public, and it will run until May 31st, 2024. (List of the selected 34 artists) Andree B. Carter, Ann Phong, Arthur Golding, Chiho Harazaki, Christopher Lloyd Tucker, Da Aie Park, Dellis Frank, Diane Holland, Diego Borgsdorf Fuenzalida, Dusty Rose, Elizabeth Gorcey, Hyunsook Cho, Jason Thompson, Jennifer Faist, Jinhee Choi, Julie Green, Kaitlyn Jiwon Hahn, Katie Middleton, Rich Lanet, Marian Galczenski, Mary Lai, Michael Flechtner, Nikolas Soren Goodich, Nellie King Solomon, Peter Hess, Randi Matushevitz, Rebecca Waring-Crane, Sangjin Kim, Sharon Allicotti, Shizuko Greenblatt, Tom Lasley, Tom Pazderka, Wayne Hunt, Zo Frampton
