CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS This Saturday, May 18th bG Gallery @ Bergamot Station Santa Monica. will host a day of cultural performances and programming, celebrating the richness of AAPI heritage. 2nd Annual exhibition of Asian American Pacific Island artists, in coordination with National AAPI Heritage month. An extraordinary exhibition titled "Moon & Stars: Los Angeles Asian Women in Art." This showcase features the exceptional artistic talents and narratives of rising contemporary Asian women artists from the Los Angeles area. Attendees can look forward to the exhilarating beats of Improv Taiko, ancient traditional Korean music performed on the Haegeum by Kenneth Lee, thoughtful compositions of Feng Shui Poetry by Jen Cheng, and the serene rituals of a Japanese Tea Ceremony by Kaoru Kuribayashi. 12:00 Japanese Tea Ceremony 1:pm NAAPIMHA kindness meditation 3pm- 6pm Poetry Jen; Haegum by Kenneth Lee; Taiko Dance by Taiko Improv New this year, a very special guest, Pata Suyemoto, Executive Director of NAAPIMHA, joins us to share about the important work of her organization toward mental health and wellness for AAPI communities. She will also conduct a Loving Kindness Meditation Collage Workshop which fosters self-compassion and healing. A day filled with laughter, reflection, and community engagement. COMMUNITY & COLLABORATIONS This project was made possible with support from Art of Recovery, an initiative of the City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs. For 2024, bG Gallery is honored to collaborate with the National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA), whose mission is to promote and redefine the mental health and well-being of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander individuals and communities. Part of the proceeds from art sales and donations from Moon & Stars will be donated to support NAAPIMHA.
