TORRANCE, CA -Torrance Art Museum (TAM) is pleased to announce two new exhibitions for summer: Studio System in the Main Gallery, and Resonance in both Gallery Two and the Dark Room.
Main Gallery: Studio System: Experimental Residency Project
This unique project, now in its fourth year, invites artists to transform the TAM Main Gallery into their studio for a month. Titled Studio System, this residency program offers visitors an unprecedented opportunity to witness the artistic process firsthand.
By opening the studio doors to the public, the project bridges the gap between artistic practice and audience engagement. Visitors can directly interact with the artists, discussing their inspirations, creative process, and the evolving artwork over the course of this month-long residency.
This initiative exemplifies TAM's ongoing commitment to fostering new ways of understanding and appreciating contemporary art, as well as the artists who create it.
Participating Artist Residents: Clarisse Abelarde, Wayne Martin Belger, Taylor Moon Castagnari, Raphaele Cohen-Bacry, Justine Di Fiore, Craig Knight, Snezana Saraswati Petrovic, Ashton S. Phillips, Tania Salha, Gwen Samuels, Sarah Svetlana, Dilan Torres, Jacqueline Valenzuela
Gallery Two and Dark Room: Resonance
A Solo exhibition by photo-based conceptual artist Alanna Airitam.
Inspired by the lighting of 17th century Renaissance paintings, early Black studio photography, and historic and contemporary narratives, Airitam pushes the traditional boundaries of photography by incorporating materials such as metal, resin, varnish, and gold into her work.
Closing Reception Saturday, June 29th, 6-9pm. The museum will be open for its regularly scheduled hours followed by the closing reception.
